Code of conduct

Optimeet is dedicated to supporting and accelerating sustainable development through the visibility of sustainable solutions and suppliers in our media and at our events.

By planning more sustainable events and by encouraging and facilitating mutual inspiration, it is our goal to contribute to reducing the industry's negative environmental and social impacts and encourage more responsible event production and waste reduction in the industry. The industry needs us to learn from each other and share experiences and good advice.

Optimeet wants to inspire sustainable solutions for exhibitors. We hope that you, as an exhibitor, will join us on this journey and use some of our recommendations below:

Waste and packaging:

Ask your suppliers if they can deliver their materials in compostable, biodegradable or recyclable packaging
Minimize disposable tableware and use biodegradable ones
Limit your waste and pack in reusable baskets and the like
Follow the waste sorting recommendations at the venue and help send as much waste as possible for recycling and
Merchandise and giveaways.

When ordering merchandise to be handed out to guests, choose something that is made from sustainable raw materials or produced from social economy enterprises
Order material without a year on it so that it can be reused several years later
Choose to serve something edible that will be consumed at the fair. If there are tastings, use sustainably produced napkins, paper cups, tableware. Avoid plastic solutions
Think sustainable when choosing beverages. Both in production and subsequent disposal
Avoid handing out plastic bags
Do not order a large number, but adjust the volume according to the number of visitors to the event
Imagine what you do with leftovers after the stand is closed, is it reused for other sales activities or something else?
Choose digital solutions instead of printed brochures and cards
If you choose to print, choose paper that is Nordic Ecolabel, cradle2cradle or FSC certified and print on both sides

Exhibition material:

Choose packaging and stand decoration so that there is as little waste as possible
Only hand out material to potential and interested guests, as the rest is simply thrown away afterwards
We encourage you to use recyclable trade fair interior and decoration, alternatively to rent it, so that the lifespan of the products is extended
Your own lighting should be LED, and avoid unnecessary light - Dim or turn off all or part of the light during daylight
When using flowers, choose locally produced and seasonal flowers and think about who could benefit from them afterwards
Book accommodation at eco-labelled accommodation

Transport:

Carpool or take public transport when you are going to and from the event
Book freight forwarders who run on biogas or electricity to transport material to event

Communication:

We encourage you to communicate, show and tell about the sustainable initiatives and products you have at the event. Both before, during and after the event via your media channels and at the stand
